Rana Creek worked with Rios Clementi Hale Studio on this facade renovation for the media and internet company IAC's West Coast headquarters that "brings the inside out and the outside in." A striking, curvelinear grid extends from the building as a vibrant, sculptural living web, bringing the native grasses and wildflowers of the Hollywood Hills to a bustling stretch of Sunset Boulevard. This living façade enlivens a dense urban matrix, provides a unique shade canopy for the buildings' outdoor café, and uses only non-potable water that was previously being discharged to the storm drain from de-watering the basement levels. The wall hosts native species from chapparal and oak woodland ecosystems, with plenty of nectary plants or hummingbirds and butterflies. Photographs by Tom Bonner.
